Yes! Electronics giant Philips, owners of the "Compact Disc" marque and
patents,
stands up against copy-denial mechanisms.
Philips may refuse to license the CD marque to copy-restricted discs (on the
grounds that, technically speaking, they are not legitimate
Red Book audio
discs).
(Ironically enough, up until the late 1990s, Philips owned the PolyGram music
group, whose elements now comprise the bulk of copy-denial zealots Universal.)
