The decline of the Melbourne public transport system continues; vandalism on trains has gone through the roof, prompting a company to hire security guards (and the union to threaten to strike if they were hired). Meanwhile, junkies are shooting up and menacing passengers on trams, and the roving ticket inspectors are doing nothing about it.

...and while we're on the subject of downloadable audio: this chap has a bunch of good royalty-free samples (riffs, loops, &c.) available for downloading from mp3.com. And he will soon be selling a CD with lots more samples for US$19. The sample CD houses that charge four times as much have something to worry about...

I recently got David Bridie's Act of Free Choice CD; I was surprised (and a bit disappointed) to find that it did not include the track Act of Free Choice (a stompin' techno-rock number about the West Papuan independence movement, which he performed at his live show). Nonetheless, worth getting into if you like that kind of thing...
